The holiday season has officially started and our platform has a big new update. We are introducing a moderation feature with the goal to increase bottom-up engagement and make the admin’s job easier.
Users now have the opportunity to send out communications like newsletters, updates, and surveys. This feature was previously reserved for system and community admins only. This means that users can now help administrators send out communications to all users on the platform.
The process is basically the same as before. However, there are some name changes. Admins will see that when they go into their Community, the “Stories” tab has replaced the “Communication” tab. Users never had this tab, so they will be happy to see the new “Stories” tab in their community as well. Users will choose the type of communication they want to send out. There are still 3 options: newsletter, update, and survey. Next, fill in the content with photos and text, choose how you want to share it (platform, text, email), and finally “Send”.
Because we want administrators to maintain the final say over what content is being shared, user content will be sent to them for approval before it is made public. As soon as content is submitted for approval, the community admin will receive a notification. Admin’s must then read the post and approve or reject it. If they reject a post, they should fill out a rejection reason form. If they approve a post, it will be instantly shared.

If an admin chooses to reject a post, they should include a reason that will be sent to the user.
Moderation is a great way to improve bottom-up communication while maintaining company policy and culture. Admins keep control of what is posted on the platform, but also receive help in creating content that they may have previously missed like employee spotlights and special recognitions. Admins and users can work together and keep each other accountable.

That’s not all! We are planning on making this type of content shareable across all communities. Stay tuned to the big changes coming in the next few months!
